Moldova Presidential Front-Runner Dodon Remains Confident of Runoff Victory

The Moldovan presidential elections' front-runner was confident that he will win a runoff victory.

Moldova Likely to Hold Second Round of Presidential Elections - CEC
CHISINAU (Sputnik) — The front-runner in the Moldovan presidential elections who fell a few points short of a 50-percent threshold said Monday he was confident in a runoff victory.

"Everything will be fine and we will win," Igor Dodon, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) leader, told RIA Novosti.

​Dodon holds a 48.72-percent edge over Action and Solidarity Party's (PAS) contender Maia Sandu, who gained 37.95 percent of the votes in the October 30 poll.

The Eastern European nation's central election commission told RIA Novosti earlier the second round of the vote would be held on November 13.
