London Subway Station Evacuated Over Terror Concerns – Police

UK transport police evacuated a subway station in London on Thursday after being called to investigate a suspicious item on an eastbound train, the Metropolitan Police said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The North Greenwich Underground Station was closed shortly after train staff on the Jubilee Line alerted the police to their find at 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00GMT).

"A controlled detonation has since taken place to ensure the item is safe," the Met confirmed in a statement, without saying what it was.

The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command took over the investigation and asked the public to remain vigilant. The UK security agency, MI5, said earlier this month that the level of terrorist threat to Britain was severe.
