German Police Searching for Syrian Man Over Allegedly Plotting Terror Attack
MOSCOW (Sputnik) A wanted Syrian man was captured overnight in the eastern German city of Leipzig after two days on the run, local police said early Monday.

"Tired but overjoyed: we captured the terror suspect last night in Leipzig," police in the state of Saxony said on Twitter.

Jaber Albakr, 22, from Sasa was wanted nationwide on suspicion of preparing a bomb attack. Germany’s largest circulation newspaper Bild reported that police had found explosives in his apartment in Chemnitz.

Police have been on high alert since Saturday when the suspect escaped police officers in Chemnitz. According to the Bild, the suspect was motivated by Islamists.
