BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — According to Kerchove, terrorists no longer seek to attack some "symbolic" targets, but carry out their attacks against vulnerable civilians in public places.
"We fear that Daesh group can change gradually its modus operandi. The use of car bombs is just an example, but there is also a concern about the use of chemical weapons," de Kerchove said, speaking in the European Parliament, as quoted by La Informacion news portal.
Europe has been forced to urgently and extensively boost its safety and security measures throughout 2016 amid a wave of deadly attacks that has occurred in Europe, including a truck running over a crowd in France's Nice, a number of suicide bombings, shootings and stabbing attacks.
