MOSCOW (Sputnik) — More than half British people believe that current prime minister, Theresa May, has a better idea of what they want than her predecessor David Cameron, a poll published on Saturday said.

"Theresa May is thought much more in touch than her predecessor – 52% of people say Theresa May understands more what ordinary British people care about, compared to just 14% who think David Cameron understood more," the report conducted by ComRes said.

May replaced David Cameron as prime minister following his resignation after the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union in a June referendum. She had previously served as the home secretary.

According to the report, 56 percent believed that May had a better chance to unite the country after Brexit than Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Labour Party, while 65 percent thought that May and the Conservative Party were more likely to win the next elections than Corbyn and Labour.

For the report in question ComRes, an organization that specializes in political and market research, polled 2,050 adults online on September 21-22.
