"I want to share your pain, the pain which becomes even stronger when I think about the children and entire families, whose lives were broken so suddenly and tragically," the pope said at the meeting, as quoted by La Stampa newspaper.
He added that he prayed for every casualty of the attack in Nice, and urged not to respond "to hatred with hatred, but with dialogue."

Over 350 people attended the meeting with Pope Francis, according to the media outlet.
On July 14, a truck rammed into a large crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the French city of Nice. At least 86 people, including children, were killed and hundreds of others were injured. An investigation into the tragedy found that the person behind the attack was 31-year-old resident of Nice of Tunisian origin Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. The Islamic State terror group (IS, outlawed in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
