“What we are seeing today is that there has been all in all decrease of the hostilities,” Zannier stated. “The ceasefire is still with a number of violations. But yesterday, for instance, it was holding pretty well. That's, I think, is a positive development.”
“If one side violates, the other side tends to react. But, as I said, these days it has been better. I don’t want to point fingers against anybody. I really hope that a few violations can also stop,” he explained.
Kiev launched a special military operation in Ukraine’s southeast in April 2014, after local residents refused to recognize the new Ukrainian authorities, which came to power as a result of a coup.
In February 2015, a peace agreement was signed between Ukraine’s conflicting sides in Minsk. Despite the fact that the deal stipulated a full ceasefire in Donbas, violations both on the part of Kiev forces and local militia have been reported.
