    Over 40 Ukrainians Detained in Russia's Central Federal District

    Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that more than 40 Ukrainian citizens wanted in Russia have been detained in the current year on the border.

    TVER (Sputnik) – Over 40 Ukrainian citizens wanted in Russia have been detained aboard vehicles in the Central Federal District this year, with 49 cases of arms smuggling detected, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said Monday.

    "As a result of additional measures to ensure public transport security, more than 40 Ukrainian citizens wanted in Russia have been detained in the current year, 49 cases of contraband have been revealed, including weapons and ammunition, 14 crimes related to the transportation of narcotics," Patrushev said.

    More than 200,000 vehicles and over 50,000 Ukrainian citizens have been inspected throughout the course of the year, he added.
