    A 4.4-magnitude earthquake was registered near the central Italian city of Arquata del Tronto in Le Marche region, according to local media.

    ROME (Sputnik) — A 4.4-magnitude earthquake took place on Sunday near the central Italian city of Arquata del Tronto in Le Marche region, that was devastated by another quake on Wednesday, according to local media reports.

    According RaiNews24 broadcaster, the earthquake was registered at 15:55 GMT. Ground shaking following the natural calamity have reportedly been felt in Rome, some 100 miles to the southwest from the epicenter.

    A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook Italy’s mountainous regions of Umbria, Lazio and Le Marche in the early hours of Wednesday. The disaster killed 290 people and caused extensive damage. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi declared a state of emergency in the affected regions.
