MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Austria ramped up security across several states on Thursday after receiving an email with a threat of attacks on police stations and public venues, the Interior Ministry said.
"In the morning, security authorities received terror threats against police stations in several states," the Ministry tweeted. "Security measures were increased."
Domestic security services opened an inquiry into the terror threat. The ministry said the email set time for the attacks, which had passed without any incidents. Searches at several undisclosed locations produced negative results.
Anti-terror units also searched the main railway station and the airport in the Austrian capital of Vienna, although there was no evacuation.
