On Wednesday, a 19-year-old man committed a deadly knife attack in UK capital's Russell Square. The suspect was quickly detained by police. The attack led to the death of a woman who was in her 60s. Five people were injured.
"Our investigation is moving very quickly and our detectives have been working hard throughout the night. As we have already made clear, mental health remains a substantial focus for our investigation," Hogan-Howe said in a statement.
He confirmed that an enhanced police presence will be seen across London on Thursday adding that police "will protect our Capital and those who live, work and visit our city."
London police were called to the scene at around 22:33 local time (21:33 GMT) on Wednesday. The suspect was arrested at 22:39 local time.
