Migrants Could Choose Russia, Finland, Central Asia as Route to Europe
ROME (Sputnik) — The organizers of the illegal flow of migrants across the Mediterranean Sea to the European soil may be financing the Daesh terrorist group, Italian Justice Minister Andrea Orlando said Thursday.

"The is evidence to suggest that the Daesh has a role in the organization of migration flows to Europe… There are suspicions that terrorist group's financing channels are through organizations which are engaged in sending migrants from Egypt and Libya and which are deciding how many people would be send to Italy, and how much to Greece and other places," Olando told the Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

According to him, the Italian law enforcement agency is doing serious work in country's prisons to prevent the spread of terrorist threats, namely on counteracting the radicalization of Muslim prisoners. He added that now there are some 10,000 Muslim prisoners in Italy, but only 350 of them are a concern in this regard.

The Daesh terrorist group is banned in a range of states including Russia and the United States.

Europe is currently facing a major refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of migrants attempting to reach wealthy EU member states through various routes, including via Italy, Greece, Turkey and Balkan states. At the same time, Europe is facing a major threat of terrorism, as over the past several weeks a wave of attacks has occurred in Europe, which made Europe urgently and extensively boost its safety and security measures.
