Russian nuclear agency Rosatom's Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business Kirill Komarov and Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova noted that they are fully satisfied with implementation of the project of life extension of the fifth and sixth units of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian nuclear agency Rosatom's Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business Kirill Komarov and Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said on Friday they were fully satisfied with implementation of life extension of the Bulgarian Kozloduy nuclear power plant’s (NPP) fifth and sixth units, Rosatom said in a statement.

Rosatom’s subsidiary Rusatom Service has signed agreements with the NPP on developing concept of life extension of its units for 60 years.

"The parties noted that they are fully satisfied with implementation of the project of life extension of the fifth and sixth units of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in partnership with the Russia’s Rusatom Service. During the meeting it was pointed out that the Russian party fully complies with its contract obligations," the statement said.

Komarov and Petkova also discussed further steps after the decision of the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Geneva, according to which the Bulgarian National Electric Company must pay about $690 million to Russia’s Atomstroyexport company because of the termination of the project of Belene Nuclear Power Plant.

Komarov pointed out that Rosatom was ready for discussions with the Bulgarian party but only in the context of the need to pay the debt as soon as possible.
