    French Police Evacuate Over 1,500 Migrants From Paris Refugee Camp

    The French police on Friday evacuated over 1,500 people from a refugee camp in northern Paris, local media reported.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Le Figaro newspaper, the refugees, mostly men from Eritrea, Somalia and Afghanistan were evacuated from the vast encampment consisting of hundreds of tents located on Boulevard de la Villette.

    The evacuation reportedly began early in the day with immigration authorities officials present at the scene. The refugees will be taken away to emergency shelters on 36 buses, the newspaper reported. The authorities have reserved 1,500 accommodation places for them, including 800 at Ile-de-France region gyms. 

    ​A first bus, carrying women and children, has reportedly already left the camp.
