Five suspects who were in contact with the Nice truck attacker prior to his deadly act have been detained, French prosecutor Francois Molins said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The suspects were detained for "complicity in murder" and "participation in a terrorist criminal association," the Paris prosecutor said on Thursday, as quoted by Le Republicain Lorrain.

According to Molins, there has been significant progress in the investigation into the Nice attack.

Earlier on Thursday Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said that the perpetrator of the Nice truck attack could have been planning it for months and had accomplices.

On July 14, a truck rammed into a large crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the city of Nice. At least 84 people, including children, were killed and hundreds of others were injured. The Daesh terror group (outlawed in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
