A Swiss national Linda Casanova, 54, has been confirmed as yet another victim of a deadly truck attack in Nice, local media reported Friday.
ROME (Sputnik) — Linda Casanova from the Italian-speaking Swiss canton of Ticino were on vacation in Nice with her French husband and was going to go back home on Friday, Corriere del Ticino newspaper reported. At the time of the attack, Casanova came directly under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot. Her spouse was only slightly hurt and escaped with mere bruises and scratches.
On Thursday night, a truck rammed into a large crowd that was celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France. At least 84 people, including children, were killed and dozens of others were injured.
The driver was shot dead by police. According to identification documents found inside the truck, the driver was a 31-year-old male resident of Nice of Tunisian origin. It is unclear whether he had any accomplices.
