London to Review Security Measures, Hold COBRA Meeting Amid Nice Attack

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said Friday that the UK capital's security experts will review safety measures following the deadly attacks in the French city of Nice and announced that a meeting of the government's civil emergency committee, COBRA, will be held later in the day.

LONDON (Sputnik) — Late on Thursday evening, a heavy truck rammed into a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84 and injuring dozens.

"The security service doing amazing job every day keeping us safe. They regularly review security measures, but clearly as the terrorists evolve the way they try and hurt us, we've got to evolve how we keep us safe. And after Brussels, after Istanbul, after Nice the police and the security experts will rightly review measures to make sure we are safe and you know COBRA's meeting today," Khan said, as quoted by the Sky News broadcaster.

Countries across the globe have been targeted by major terrorist attacks, such as the downing of a Russian airliner in the Sinai Peninsula on October 31, 2015, attacks in Beirut on November 12, 2015, in Paris on November 13, 2015, in Brussels on March 22 and in Istanbul on June 28.
