"We all need to be vigilant to the global threat of terrorism – in the UK we keep all aspects of aviation security under constant review and work closely with our international partners to mitigate risks… We will continue to take all steps necessary to keep the public safe, but for security reasons we do not comment in detail on specific measures or operational matters," Ahmad said as quoted by The Guardian newspaper.
The new threat comes amid a recent deadly terrorist attack at the Istanbul international airport. On Tuesday, a coordinated terrorist attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport left over 40 people dead and more than 240 injured. Although no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack in Istanbul, all signs point to Daesh terrorist group.
