Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe President Pedro Agramunt underscored that Russia and Europe should stand together against such major challenges as terrorism.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is a very important member of the Council of Europe, with Europe being unable to counter international challenges, such as global terror threat, without Moscow's participation, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Pedro Agramunt said Thursday.

"Russia is a member of the Council of Europe and a very important member," Agramunt said after the meeting with Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matvienko in Moscow.

He stressed that Russia and the countries of the Council of Europe should stand together against the major challenges that the world is facing.

"Without Russia's input we will not be able to effectively stand against the challenges of international terrorism and migration," he added.
