MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in June, John Letts and Sally Lane were charged with funding terrorism after they sent 1,700 pounds (some $2,400 at the current exchange rate) to their son, who is believed to be fighting alongside Daesh in Syria.

The judge decided to grant the couple bail after as they were "perfectly decent people" who had lost their liberty "because of the love of their child," the BBC broadcaster reported.

The channel added that during the hearings, the couple's attorney said that the few days the couple already spent in custody had an "incalculable" effect on them.

According to the media outlet, Lane and her husband are due to appear at the Central Criminal Court of England, the Old Bailey, on June 23.

Daesh is a terrorist group, outlawed in many countries including the United Kingdom and Russia. The group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq, declaring a caliphate in the territories under its control.
