According to a member of the British parliament from Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party, if the voters at the UK's referendum decide to leave the European Union, the country will not have to face monetary and fiscal consequences of the Brussels' interference in the internal policy of the kingdom.

Brexit or Elexit: Leaving May Trigger a New Election, Street Riots
EDINBURGH (Sputnik) If the voters at the UK's referendum decide to leave the European Union, the country will not have to face monetary and fiscal consequences of the Brussels' interference in the internal policy of the kingdom, a member of the British parliament from Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) told Sputnik on Friday.

“The one big advantage of a Brexit is that we don’t get dragged into a further political union and the monetary and fiscal consequences of greater interference by the EU in order to protect the Eurozone,” Sammy Wilson said.

Commenting on a statement highlighting the potential loss of inward investment to Northern Ireland if there was a Brexit vote made earlier in the day by the former first minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, before a gathering of business leaders in Derry, Wilson called Salmond's speech "scare stories" suggesting that the Remain campaign was taking voters "for fools."

“There will be some people who are being genuinely scared by some of the claims being made by the Remain side because they have always believed that their leaders wouldn’t tell them such blatant lies and, unfortunately, some people will be persuaded by this nonsense,” Wilson added.

The United Kingdom prepares to vote on June 23 in a referendum on whether it should stay in or leave the European Union.
