An explosive package has been delivered to the office of the European Food Security Authority (EFSA) in Parma, local media reported Tuesday.

ROME (Sputnik) — The bomb squad which arrived at the office to defuse the package said that it could have exploded if opened, Gazzetta di Parma reported.

Police suggested that anarchists who are against genetically modified organism (GMO) policies could be behind the delivery. EFSA provides scientific assessment for GMOs for food and feed uses on a regular basis.
