Organizers of the open-air Rock Am Ring festival in the German town of Mendig said in a statement on Sunday that they were forced to prematurely end the event because of weather conditions, endangering human health and lives.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, over 80 visitors of Rock Am Ring were injured by lightning strikes, according to the festival's organizing committee. On Saturday, due to weather conditions, local authorities ordered to temporarily suspend the festival.

"The open-air Rock Am Ring festival has to be ended prematurely after the second day. The municipality of Mendig withdrew their permit for carrying out festival on Sunday. The organizers accept this decision, bearing responsibility for fans' safety," the statement said.
