MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, over 80 visitors of Rock Am Ring were injured by lightning strikes, according to the festival's organizing committee. On Saturday, due to weather conditions, local authorities ordered to temporarily suspend the festival.
"The open-air Rock Am Ring festival has to be ended prematurely after the second day. The municipality of Mendig withdrew their permit for carrying out festival on Sunday. The organizers accept this decision, bearing responsibility for fans' safety," the statement said.
Rock am Ring is the annual rock festival held in Germany. This year some 90,000 people have arrived to Mendig to watch live performances of such groups as Black Sabbath, Foals, Johnossi, Korn and Red Hot Chili Peppers, that were scheduled to take place during a three-day event on June 3-5.
