Russia, Estonia Renew Deal on Cooperation in Culture

The deal on cooperation between Russia and Estonia in the field of culture for 2016-2018 was signed by Estonian Culture Ministry Undersecretary Anna-Lee Reimaa and Russian Deputy Culture Minister Alla Manilova in the Estonian city of Narva.

TALLINN (Sputnik) — Estonia and Russia on Friday renewed the agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture for 2016-2018, the Russian Embassy in Tallinn said in a statement Friday.

According to the statement, the deal was signed by Estonian Culture Ministry Undersecretary Anna-Lee Reimaa and Russian Deputy Culture Minister Alla Manilova in the Estonian city of Narva.

"After the signing ceremony, which was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Estonia Alexander Petrov, Alla Manilova and Anne-Lee Reimaa, at a ceremony held at the Geneva Cultural Center, opened the Days of Narva and the Fifth International Festival of Contemporary Art Most Drujbi [Bridge of Friendship], which will be attended by artists from Estonia and St. Petersburg," the statement said.

The first agreement on cultural cooperation between Russia and Estonia was signed in May 1992. The document is updated every three years. The deal stipulates cooperation and exchange of experience in the fields of music, theater, visual arts, literature, cinema, festivals, museums and libraries.
