STOCKHOLM(Sputnik) — A court in Sollentuna Municipality north of Stockhom, Sweden sentenced on Thursday a 20-year-old local for five years in prison for preparing a terror attack.
The man was detained on February 11 on the charges of purchasing bomb components with an intention to carry out an explosion, the court said in a statement.
The judge who made the decision said it was not clear what was the target of the explosion but it could have hurt harmed Swedish citizens and its purpose would be to spread fear.
In June 2015, the convicted man was apprehended in Turkey and returned to Sweden twice. The prosecutors believe that he was heading to Syria to join the Islamic State terrorist organization, outlawed in many countries including Russia.
