MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to the ministry's figures, cited by the BFMTV broadcaster, emergency services received 10,537 alert calls in the regions, rescuing 5,500 people since Sunday. The authorities have summoned 885 firefighters and mobilized eight regional emergency centers in the affected regions.

On Wednesday, the French authorities reported rescuing some 3,000 people trapped in flooded areas.

Heavy rains led to waters rising in northern France, as well as Belgium and Germany. As an average 20-day precipitation amount fell on France, rivers Loire, Seine and Marne burst the banks.
