The bomb scare that triggered the evacuation at Milan’s busy Piazza Cadorna metro station on Saturday turned out to be a false alarm, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Services on two lines of Milan’s metro system were suspended earlier in the day after a suspicious package was found at Piazza Cadorna, just hours before the Italian city was set to hold the Champions League final.

Law enforcement personnel came to a conclusion that the suspicious package detected at the station contained baby gifts, La Gazetta dello Sport newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, the metro’s M1 and M2 line service had been partially halted for about an hour before fully resuming operations later in the day.
