Service on two lines of Milan’s metro system was suspended Saturday after a suspicious package was found at one of the metro stations just hours before the Italian city is set to hold the Champions League final, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The object was found at one of the city’s busiest metro stations of Cadorna, which was subsequently evacuated, the Gazzetta dello Sport reported.

According to the newspaper, the metro’s M1 line service was halted between Cairoli and Pagano and the M2 line was stopped between Garibaldi and Porta Genova. The majority of fans traveling to the Champions League final game would have to travel through the Cadorna station, according to the paper.

The police officers are currently determining the nature of the discovered package, the sports daily reported.
