According to a journalist of The Times Sports newspaper, citing Manchester United, the evacuation was carried out over a suspicious package.
Manchester United Football Club confirmed Sunday that the kickoff of its match against Bournemouth was being delayed over a suspicious package.
"Kick-off is delayed at Old Trafford after a suspect package was found in the North West Quadrant. Police are inspecting, more to follow," the team said on its Twitter account.
Eyewitnesses and journalists claimed on Twitter that Wi-Fi and 3G at the stadium have been switched off over “Code Red” alert.
