Almost three quarters of Britons believe that the UK National Health Service (NHS) will worsen in the coming years, local media reported citing a new poll.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to The Guardian newspaper’s Saturday report, 72 percent of those polled believe that the NHS services will decline. Only 11 percent of respondents did not fear worsening in NHS, the media outlet added.

Such levels of pessimism about health services are the highest in Europe, the newspaper claimed citing the Populus pollster.

The NHS is the publicly funded health care system in the United Kingdom. The majority of the services it provides are free of charge for the country's citizens.

Last year, the King's Fund, an independent charity organization working to improve health care in England, described NHS as "working close to the limits" in most areas after budgets were cut over the past year.
