French Police Detain 27 People During Night of Riots in Paris

During the riots against labor reforms in Paris, in which some 150 people participated, two vehicles and two scooters were set on fire.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — French police detained at least 27 protesters of whom at least 24 have been charged with violence against police during riots in the capital on Thursday night, the Paris Police Prefecture said in statement.

"Till 3.30 a.m. [01:30 GMT] protesters were throwing different items at the security forces. Neither police officers nor demonstrators received [any] injuries. 24 people of 27 detainees have already been accused of… violence against police," the statement reads.

Spread of Strikes Throughout France Symptomatic of Breakdown in Trust
According to the police statement, during the riots, in which some 150 people participated, two vehicles and two scooters were set on fire.

French cities have been rocked by four days of mass protests against a labor reforms bill that will go before the lower house of parliament next week. The motion seeks to make it easier for companies to lay off staff and cut overtime payments.

On Thursday, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the total number of detentions had reached 382 since the protests began.
