The Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that it expects a strong reaction from the OSCE and other international organizations and human rights groups regarding Ukraine's recent entry ban to a Russian reporter.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Russian TV channel reported was denied to enter Ukraine without any explanation. Later she informed she was banned from entering the country for five years.

"We note with indignation another act of flagrant legal arbitrariness by Ukrainian authorities against a Russian journalist, VGTRK's special correspondent Darya Grigorova, who was denied to enter the country by Ukrainian border guards on April 24 without any explanation and informed only at the airport that she had been banned from entering the country for five years," the ministry said in a statement.

"We expect a strong reaction from the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, and for other specialized international and non-governmental human rights organizations to pay attention to this gross violation of journalists' rights by Ukraine," the statement reads.

Russian Journalist Union Decries Possible Ukrainian Sanctions Against Media
Since the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in 2014, the relations between Moscow and Kiev have deteriorated. Ukrainian authorities accused Moscow of interfering in Ukraine’s internal affairs and fueling the armed conflict in Ukraine’s southeast.

In March 2015, Kiev published a list of 115 Russian media outlets, which could be denied or temporarily suspended accreditation by Ukrainian authorities as the outlets reportedly "posed threats" to the Ukrainian state security.

As the regulation came into force, a number of Russian journalists and television reporters were denied entry to Ukraine or deported to Russia.

In February, Ukraine's National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting asked the country’s National Security Service to impose sanctions against 38 of Russia’s largest television broadcasters and media outlets. Eventually, all Russian TV channels, except for the opposition Dozhd, had their accreditation cancelled.
