WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Russian economy has started to recover, but has not shown outstanding results yet, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde said in a press conference on Thursday.
"As far as Russia is concerned…while clearly the trend is directionally up, it does not mean to say that the results are outstanding, but there is improvement, it is true," Lagarde stated.
Earlier on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Russian economy has dipped this year but all indicators suggest its rebound in 2017.
Gross domestic product is expected to shrink by 0.3 percent in Russia in 2016, but Putin said the government expects 2017 growth to reach 1.4 percent.
