The NATO-Ukraine Commission will be held on the sidelines of the forthcoming Warsaw summit, NATO Deputy Secretary-General Alexander Vershbow said Thursday.

KIEV (Sputnik) – The NATO-Ukraine Commission will meet within the framework of the alliance's Warsaw summit at the level of heads of state, NATO Deputy Secretary-General Alexander Vershbow said Thursday.

The NATO summit is scheduled to be held in the Polish capital in early July.

“In Warsaw, the Allies will reaffirm their continuing commitment to support the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine during the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of heads of state,” Vershbow said, speaking at the Kiev Security Forum.

In December 2014, Ukraine suspended its non-aligned status and confirmed its intention to join NATO. The alliance's officials have repeatedly stressed that Kiev will have to implement a wide range of reforms before joining the military bloc.

Last month, Ukraine and NATO agreed on a set of reforms that the Ukrainian Armed Forces must undergo to comply with the alliance's standards.
