Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano called on the EU member states to boost the coordination of their countries' law enforcement agencies in the fight against terror threats.

ROME (Sputnik) — According to the interior minister, Europe is currently going through testing times, as it is facing a challenge that has nothing to do with economy, but with terrorism.

"The Italian [counterterrorism] model works because it demonstrates coordination between the [various] police forces. We demand the same from Europe," Alfano said.

Countries across the globe have been boosting their security measures following a number of large-scale terrorist attacks and in light of the threat posed by terrorist groups, including Daesh.
