On March 22, suicide bombers attacked an international airport and a metro station in the Belgian capital. Following the attacks, flights to and from the airport were canceled while a number of regulatory institutions conducted assessment tests necessary for the partial restart of the airport's operations.
"Brussels Airport Company has received the go ahead from the fire services and the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) for a partial restart of passenger flights at the airport. However, the authorities have yet to take a formal decision on the restart date… The airport is thus technically ready for a restart of passenger flights in the temporary infrastructure foreseen for check-in," the airport said in a statement.
On Sunday, the airport's management announced that the facility would soon restart its activities, however, the resumption of flights would only be partial due to the damage done to the airport's infrastructure.
