MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 3 of the suspects in Brussels terrorist attacks passed through Greece to Belgium months before March 22 blasts, local media reported Tuesday, citing sources in Greek police.
Two of the men returned to Europe from Syria, passing through Leros on September 20, 2015. The third man travelled to Greece from Italy on July 23, 2015, the Kathimerini daily reported.
Two suspects that travelled through Greece in September used Syrian passports and were accompanied by Salah Abdeslam, a suspect in November 13 Paris attacks, which left 130 people dead.
On March 22, two suicide blasts ripped through the Brussels Airport departure hall in the northeastern municipality of Zaventem. A further explosion occurred at the Maelbeek station near EU institutions. A total of 35 people died in the attacks and more than 300 were injured.
The Islamic State militant group, which is banned in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
