MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Lufthansa is not planning to redirect flights to Egypt after the EgyptAir passenger flight MS181 was hijacked en route to Cairo, the company's spokesperson told Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, the plane traveling from Egypt’s Alexandria with between 60 and 82 people on board, according to various reports, landed in the Cyprus Larnaca airport after a hijacking by a single male suicide bomber.
"There are no plans to redirect flights to Egypt at the moment and with regard to Larnaka we do not have today the flight to Larnaka. So there are no plans to reroute any flights," the spokesperson said.
According to European Parliament President Martin Schulz, all passengers have been released from the aircraft. The Cypriot Foreign Ministry claims several foreigners remain on board.
