The Belgian State Security Service (VSSE) has dismissed media reports claiming the special service was unwilling to cooperate with its US counterparts following the November terrorist attacks in Paris, a VSSE spokesperson told Sputnik on Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — On Friday, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel confirmed that citizens of the United States were among the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in Brussels.

On Tuesday, two suicide blasts hit the departures hall of Brussels' Zaventem international airport and an explosion shook a subway carriage at the Maelbeek station, close to the EU institutions. Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The deadly terror attacks in Brussels on Tuesday claimed the lives of at least 31 people and injured over 300.

"The VSSE gives no comments on rumors," the spokesperson said, answering a question whether the media reports were true.

The spokesperson also noted the VSSE's "long tradition of international cooperation" and said that the State Security Service maintained relations with 93 foreign services in 69 countries.

The VSSE comment comes following the tragic events in Brussels, where on Tuesday, two suicide blasts hit the departures hall of Brussels Zaventem international airport and an explosion shook a subway carriage at the Maelbeek station, close to the EU institutions, killing at least 31 people and injuring 300.
