Brussels international airport will remain closed for passenger flights through Friday, the airport said in a statement on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) —  Earlier in the day, the airport said all flights to and from Brussels airport had been cancelled throughout Thursday following Tuesday's attacks.

"Partial aerial activities will resume tonight. Cargo flights and private flights handled by General Aviation can resume as of now. Passenger flights are suspended until Friday included," the statement read.

On Tuesday, two suicide blasts hit the departures hall of Brussels international airport and an explosion shook a subway carriage in Maelbeek station, close to the EU institutions, killing at least 31 people and injuring 260.
