Gasthuisberg Hospital Says Treating 13 Wounded, 3 in Critical State

Three out of 13 people transferred to the University Hospital Gasthuisberg in the Belgian city of Leuven following the attacks in Brussels are in the critical condition, a communication department officer at the medical institution told Sputnik on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, two bomb explosions at the Brussels Airport departure hall left at least 14 people killed, while a blast in the central Brussels Maelbeek metro station killed another 20. According to the Belgian crisis center, at least 230 people were injured in the attacks.

“There are 13 people altogether, 3 are in critical condition,” the officer said.

She added that the wounded had fractures and deep cuts caused by glass shards and nails.

Earlier, media reported that at least one of the bombs at the Brussels airport was stuffed with nails.
