Several injured residents were brought to the University Hospital of Brussels.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova – Several lightly wounded individuals were brought to the University Hospital of Brussels, the medical facility's press officer told Sputnik Tuesday.

The Belgian capital is currently on alert. Earlier in the day, two blasts rocked the Zaventem airport in Brussels, leaving over a dozen people dead and more than 30 injured. In addition, explosions have shaken the Maalbeek and Schuman metro stations in central Brussels.

"At the moment we can say that there are some lightly injured people who were brought over here. I cannot say from what locations they were brought. I think injured people will be distributed over all the hospitals in our area," the press officer said.

The emergency rooms are being prepared for them, the officer specified.
