    The Cologne police detained an alleged Daesh militant, German media reported Tuesday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to the Spiegel Online magazine, the German federal prosecutor accuses Shahid Ilgar Oclu S. of joining the terrorist group in November-December 2013 in Syria.

    The German authorities consider that the 25 year old man travelled to the war torn country in autumn 2013 and initially underwent combat training at the Junud al-Sham and then joined Daesh. In December 2013, Oclu S. returned to Germany, according to the media outlet.

    In February, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany convicted three men of ties with these terrorist organizatios, the publication reads.

    Considerable parts of Syria and Iraq are currently controlled by the Islamic State group, which is outlawed in many countries including Russia. The extremists have declared a caliphate on the territories under their control. The group is considered to be one of the main threats to global security.
