Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and European Council President Donald Tusk pointed out that the European approach toward migrant crisis will not change, Serbian government said in a statement on Friday.

BELGRADE (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Vucic and Tusk met to discuss the migrant crisis, as well as the solutions to the problem.

It was added in the statement that Vucic reiterated Belgrade's readiness to respect conclusions that could be made during the upcoming EU Summit on March 7.

In recent months, Europe has faced an enormous influx of migrants fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa. Many refugees use transit routes through the Balkans, specifically through Serbia, to reach more prosperous countries in Western Europe.

EU border agency Frontex recorded over 1.83 million illegal border crossings into the European Union in 2015.
