The deployment of a Russian airbase in Belarus was not on the agenda of a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Russia-Belarus Union State in Minsk on Thursday, Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov said.

MINSK (Sputnik) — The meeting was co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

"No. Everything has already been said about the issue. No need to repeat ourselves," Ravkov said answering the relevant question posed by RIA Novosti.

Moscow and Minsk signed an agreement on the joint protection of the Russia-Belarus Union State airspace and the creation of a unified regional air defense network in February 2009. The units of this network are expected to carry out combined combat duty missions by the end of 2016.
