MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov – Earlier in the day, Stoltenberg said that resolving major international conflicts without Russia was impossible. On Sunday, Grushko said Russia was ready to cooperate with NATO on global challenges, including joint anti-terror efforts and cooperation in Afghanistan.
Answering a question on the possibility to cooperate with Russia on those issues and the existence of prerequisites for such cooperation, the official referred to Stoltenberg’s Saturday statement in Munich in which the strife for "more constructive and cooperative relationship with Russia" was stressed.
On Sunday, Grushko also stressed that NATO should stop perceiving Russia as an "aggressive state" and cease military preparations with in light of this misconception.
At the same time, the NATO chief has repeatedly called for a reinforced military presence in Eastern Europe in response to what NATO and the West claim to be a Russian threat. Moscow has repeatedly warned against the increased NATO military build-up along Russia’s borders.
