Shinas said the funds would be used for refugees, migration and integration.

Europe is currently struggling to cope with a massive refugee influx, with millions of refugees fleeing conflict-torn countries of the Middle East and North Africa in search of asylum in stable and wealthy EU states.

Most refugees travel from Turkey to the Greek islands before continuing onward to mainland Europe.

Athens is currently implementing a program of construction of five so-called hotspot centers for hosting and registering refugees on country's islands of Chios, Kos, Leros, Lesbos and Samos.
