German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to send NATO troops to the Turkish coast in order to support Turkey in the fight against illegal trafficking. However, it is unclear whether the increased military presence is connected to the escalation of conflict in Syria, German newspaper Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten (DWN) reported.

Germany and Turkey will seek NATO's mobilization in the fight against illegal trafficking on the Aegean coast, the newspaper wrote.

At the meeting of NATO defense ministers this week, they are planning to discuss "the extent to which NATO can be helpful in monitoring the situation at the sea and support the work of Frontex and the Turkish Coast Guard," Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday after consultations with her Turkish colleague Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara.

Merkel also announced plans to carry out joint operations of German and Turkish police against "illegal border crossing" in Turkey. The operations will among others be aimed at examining how the work of the Turkish Coast Guard and the EU border agency Frontex can be better coordinated.

According to the newspaper, the real purpose of the new initiative and NATO's stronger presence in the region, however, remains unclear.

The newspaper noted that Merkel has lately criticized Russia's operation in northern Syria and blamed it for the emergence of a new wave of refugees. German Chancellor condemned the attacks of the Russian Air Force and the Syrian army near the city of Aleppo in unusually sharp words:

"In recent days, we are not only alarmed, but also appalled at the human suffering for tens of thousands of people caused by bombings, primarily from the Russian side," Merkel stated on Monday in Ankara after meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

Since the Syrian air campaign began last September, Russia has carried out thousands of sorties against terrorist targets, crippling Daesh's infrastructure and eliminating numerous terrorists. Some Western media outlets have criticized Russia's operations in Syria, claiming that the Russian Air Force strikes have resulted in the death of hundreds of peaceful civilians. However, these reports have not been confirmed by any actual evidence.

It wouldnt surprise me if we soon will have to say Hiel to Angela Hitler and her criminal international friends, the bankers as soon as they have installed their new World order dictatorship. With their fiscal union. Political union and TTIP.

slimyfox, a couple of weeks I told you, there was no alternative, now I've seen von der Leyen on TV and she fits the bill of what most Germans crave. A CDU hag, but still younger and more flexible than Merkel, very ambitious, clearly jealous of Merkel, never shy for an answer, and so right-wing, AfD will have trouble fitting a piece of paper between her and the right-hand wall, even though she hides it behind some realpolitik "sending people back and integration takes time" barb. So Merkel can step down now!

NATO is looking for any excuse to station troops and heavy weapons on or near the Russian border regions. If this is not a military build up for invasion then it is a very good imitation of an effort to build an invasion force. President Putin has a very difficult decision to ponder. What is the true intent of NATO's massive military moves east, and what and how Russia will respond to this provocative and dangerous move by the US/NATO criminals. We all know that what ever the public pronouncements NATO makes cannot be trusted based on experience so one would think that the military build up must be taken at face value and the assumption that the US/NATO alliance is preparing for war or an embargo/siege of Russia.

Merkel and Davitoglu lying through their teeth with an amended script and rolled out under the predictable media whitewash that only serves to bend twist and distort reality and leaves all semblance of truth aside.... they have a common agenda and they stick together each to their own demise

Perhaps Angela Merkel and Hilary Clinton (ne Rodham) are soul mates as neither of them can find a man to 'rodem'. lol

President Putin has made it very clear in a speech last year that if NATO troops invade Russian lands or threaten Russian bases in Syria they will risk being hit with tactical nuclear missiles. And quite rightly so in my humble opinion.

Yes of course it is mind boggling how stupid these EU cowards are.
And they say Putin is always wrong?
We in Europe are soon to get finished off with GMO foods and TIPP.

Russia is looking to be the escape place at present. Russia should be helping skilled Europeans to get out and go to Russia.
Shout help!, and the only hope is a Brexit?.

    • Mother Gorillain reply toBlackie(Show commentHide comment)
Blackie, absolutely right, and she would not have made that statement before that meeting with Erdogan, she isn't as anti-Russian and anti-Putin as that. The poor woman god besotted by Erdogan, and now we'll get more sanctions, more poor refugees to take care of (not that we don't welcome them, but it all needs to be organised) and maybe WWIII... She's got to go!
