Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that he will not allow federalization of Ukraine.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called the initiative to allow direct elections of governors to be a “direct step” toward federalization, which he is strongly against.

“In regard to the initiative of the regional council, which has an initiative of implementing direct elections of the heads of regional administrations: this is a strange request. First, this is a direct step toward federalization, which I will not allow and which is simply an irresponsible step,” Poroshenko said during a meeting in the Kiev regional administration.
