About 200 soldiers from Canada are currently training Ukrainian troops, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Monday.

KIEV (Sputnik) — "Some 200 soldiers from Canada are now… supporting the Ukrainian armed forces, training and providing technical assistance in order to make them meet NATO standards," Yatsenyuk said.

Ukraine dropped its non-aligned status last year to open a path toward becoming a NATO member. Ukraine aims to pass reforms that will make its army compatible with those of NATO member states by 2020.
